The climate is changing drastically, regardless of what skeptics say, there is literal proof that goes to show that the Earth’s surface temperature has increased drastically, even in the past decade alone, as there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that global warming is in fact happening, and not only that but also that it is human-induced.

With global warming and climate change on the increase, and with species and their habitats on the decease, the chances for ecosystems to be able to adapt naturally are diminishing, and many are agreed on the fact that the issue of global warming and climate change just may be one of the greatest threats that is facing the planet.

The Impacts of Global Warming

It is believed that global warming will have incredible impact on the world overall, both on the environment and on society in general, as higher temperatures will cause a melting of ice in Greenland and Antarctica, and this will result in accelerating the rise of the sea level. As well, the speed at which global warming is expected to occur in the 21st century is faster than most plant and animal species will be able to cope with, thus resulting in causing many to become extinct, and quickly at that.

Global warming is also expected to affect human health, as there will most likely be more heart-related illnesses in hot summers, and increased breathing problems as higher temperatures increase air pollution in cities, thus reducing air quality greatly. Also, more extreme weather, for example storms, floods and droughts will have severe impacts on the environment and on society.

Preparing

Preparation is obviously the best idea, especially considering that if global warming is going to occur there is really nothing that anyone can do about it. However we can at least hold it off, by taking more care and consideration with the environment, for instance recycling and not polluting the air as much.
