The Dangers Of Animals And Global Warming
With the world continuing to grow warmer there is great concern over the effect that global warming has on the animals. While many people are not concerned with the idea of global warming, studies have shown changes in wildlife that are starting to become alarming. Animals and global warming are being studied by many different scientists today and they are documenting changes in the behavior of many different species. There are many types of fish that are moving farther north in search of cooler waters. Polar bears today do not weigh as much as they did years go and their health appears to be failing.
When taking a look at animals and global warming you will find that there are a number of changes in animal behavior and patterns which have taken place in the last twenty years. Elephant seal pups are not as big as they used to be and they are slowly moving in search of cooler waters. Marmots are not spending as much time in hibernation and certain fruitflys which are accustomed to hot weather are looking for a cooler climate.
While there is little doubt that anybody would miss the fruitfly, the reason for their change in climate should cause great concern.
Animals And Global Warming – The Affect On Birds
The biggest affect on animals and global warming is probably noticed in the various species of birds. Global warming is changing their food chain and, in many cases, destroying their habitat. Birds who typically live in the wetlands are finding that their habitat is drying up and they continually have to search for and compete for other areas of wetland.
Birds which usually migrate are finding that the insects they normally feed on bred early and are no longer available. These migratory birds then have to hunt for other food sources and many of them do not survive.
The changes which have been observed with animals and global warming are not limited to the United State; they are seen worldwide. Scottish seabirds are not breeding the way they used to because they no longer have as many fish to feed on. The fish are disappearing because they no longer have the plankton they need to survive. With each breed and species that disappears there is a chain reaction that trickles down to others. Some animals can survive for a longer period of time by moving to a cooler climate but the animals such as polar bears and seals do not have that option. Their natural habitat is slowly melting away and they will soon have nowhere to go.
