It's hard to imagine how comedy would have developed without the Monty Python Flying Circus TV show; such has been its influence on future comedians. When the BBC produced series first appeared, it divided the nation. Some people just didn't appreciate it whilst others were on the floor with laughter. It soon went on to be a cherished national institution. Fans of the show are very loyal and want to own every bit of Python they can get their hands on. The truest enthusiast wants to own the Monty Python Complete box sets that are readily available.

Individual DVDs of each television series are sold. There were four series in total and many fans like them to be collected together in a Monty Python Complete set. The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus Megaset was released in 2000. It shows the entire run of 45 episodes in the order that the BBC broadcast them. The 14 discs play for 1,479 surreal minutes. Of course, it's tempting to fast forward to the best moments, especially those involving dead parrots or songs about Spam! The extra features include a Pythonisms Glossary, art gallery, career highlights and trivial quest. There are also interviews with the six Pythons; Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle and Terry Jones.

The team also produced a series of hilarious movies too, gaining box office and critical success. These too can be bought as individual items but they are available as a Monty Python Complete set with the 2006 release of Monty Python - The Movies, a 7 disc box set. Everyone has their favorite film and they are all here. Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Meaning of Life are both presented as 2 disc special editions. The most controversial film of their career is considered a highlight too and Life of Brian continues to tickle the funny bone. The remaining film is And Now For Something Completely Different, which is sketches taken from the TV show that was targeted at an American audience.

The bonus features include a Monty Python documentary, a theatrical trailer and a commentary. There is also a disc titled Monty Python's Personal Best DVD Sampler, in which the team selects their favorite sketches. Sadly, Graham Chapman is no longer with us and so the others choose on his behalf. As each generation is introduced to the Monty Python Complete DVDs, they are insured never to be forgotten. Their brand of silliness will go on.
