The state of Utah is mainly known for its winter sports facilities and it has a lot to offer its many visitors. Park City Ut is a resort town that benefited from a surge in tourism from the 1980s onwards. It is an old mining town and several Victorian buildings can still be seen on its charming Main Street.

The major development as a tourist destination took place at three main locations, the Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort and The Canyons. The Park City Utah and Deer Valley slopes were used for skiing and snowboard competition during the Winter Olympics in 2002, bringing even more popularity to the area. Visitors can admire the bobsled and luge tracks at the Utah Olympic Park and enjoy the upmarket stores, restaurants, bars and clubs.

Park City Mountain Resort is a training ground for the American Ski Team. It was originally known as Treasure Mountain and has been in operation since 1963, when it was built on the site of an old silver mine. Deer Valley Resort is very children friendly and has lots of snowmaking machines to extend the season. Snowboarders are not permitted here. The Deer Valley Music Festival is a much anticipated event on the Park City Ut social calendar, bringing classical music and opera to the mountains. The Canyons has 8 mountain peaks and 17 lifts and caters mostly for intermediate and expert skiers.

There is every type of accommodation available for the visitor, including luxury hotels, condominiums, lodges and cabins. The Park City Utah area is enjoyed throughout the summer months too and attracts backpackers and campers. There are several hiking and mountain bike trails in scenic lakeland and forest. Horseback riders also love to come here and golfers can choose from many different courses, all in lovely settings.

In addition to winter sports, the area is also famous as the venue for the annual Sundance Film Festival. Park City Ut is the major location for the screenings in what has become the largest festival for independent filmmakers in the United States. Other locations are Salt Lake City, and Ogden. The involvement of actor Robert Redford helped to boost the status of the festival. As a resident of Utah, he wanted to bring the film world to this beautiful area and the festival also takes place at his Sundance Resort. Every director and producer wants their work to be showcased here.
