Black Lights
When you think of black lights, you may think of smoky rooms, glowing white teeth, and psychedelic posters. While black lights were, and still are, a decorating choice for some people, they have many other uses that you may not have considered. The business world is using the effects of black lights to do many different things today, and many of these things are security related. These are popping up in more and more places, and people are finding new ways to use them every day. Some clubs use black lights for security reasons. When a club caters to both the over 21 and under 21 crowd, they have to do something to ensure the younger crowd is not served alcohol. In days past, they would have a stamp to mark those who were underage, but these could be washed off. It didn’t make for good business. Now, they can use invisible stamps that only show up under a black light, and these are harder to wash off your skin in one go.
Crime scene investigation also uses black lights to help with their work. Black lights can pick up on any number of bodily fluids that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Semen and urine are two of the big ones. Black lights help detectives pick up on evidence they may have not been able to find otherwise. Along the same lines, a hotel may use a black light to be sure the beds are clean, and that the cleaning staff is giving the rooms the cleaning they need, and not cutting corners.
Black lights are also used by entertainment venues and amusement parks as part of the entertainment. The distinct effect they have on colors is a much used and loved addition to light shows and haunted houses. They may also be used for games, or during theatrical performances that amusement parks are known for. These places may also use black light for admission purposes.
You can even use a black light at home to find hidden stains. You may also use it to see if your detergent is indeed working as well as it claims to be. Simply hold the light over your clean clothing, or over furniture, and see if anything appears. You may find hidden pet accidents this way, or discover that you detergent isn’t cleaning as deeply as you would like. This may help making looking for that mystery smell a whole lot easier.
