You may want to get something online for a payment, but you should make sure they are a real company before you hand over your bank account information for any type of service. Always check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure before you give your bank account information to anyone at any time. If you aren’t sure, don’t do it.

If you ever get an email asking you to submit your bank account information, any passwords, or PINs for any reason, you should call that institution on the phone. Never click on a link given to you through an email. These emails are made to look like they come from eBay, PayPal, or your bank. They ask for any sort of information they need in order to access your accounts. If you give them your bank account information, you can expect to be cleaned out rather quickly. As a rule, none of those places will ever ask you for missing information, to update your information, nor will they alert you to a problem through email. Don’t fall for it.

In the event that you have given your bank account information to someone that you should have avoided, make sure you contact your bank at once. They may be able to freeze your account, or you may have to close it right away. You may end up with a few payments or checks bouncing, but that is far better than leaving your accounts open so that a thief can clean you out.
