On the other hand, if you just start sending out e-mails with your new address and don’t say anything, people are going to the very confused when they are e-mails began to bounce back because they do not realize you have a new address.

You will lose a lot of business and cause a lot of confusion if you do not let anyone know what is going on. This not only applies to your clients but your employees as well. Remember that not everyone checks there are e-mail every day.
