Light

Golden Hour

While doing slide photography, you must know how to choose golden hours. You must stay away from direct sunlight. Never allow direct sunlight to play over the lens of your camera, otherwise you will get burned photographs. Many photographers select early morning or early evening hours as the best suitable hours for their photography session. For instance, most mountain pictures are ideally taken between 9 o'clock in the morning and 12 noon, especially during summer season.

Good Composition

Whether you are a pro or an amateur, you must work hard to uplift your inner eyes. A good composition is always necessary to any genre of photography including slide photography on nature. Foreground, mid-ground and background of the subject are the three fundamental parts of an ideal composition. For instance, when you are trying to take a photograph of a flower, consider a lake as the mid-ground of your photography, while a mountain can be considered as the background of the picture. No matter what you have selected as the subject, be experimental.

A majority of professional photographers count on ISO 50 or 100 films for shooting their nature photographs. E6 defines the way using which most of the slide films are created. In order to obtain an excellent result, you need to store the slide film at the temperature of 59°F or 15°C prior to your shooting. Preferably you can store it in a refrigerator. After you finish your shooting, you have to re-store it once again. When you store your film in this way, you can be rest assured that your films are rightly protected with an ensured longer life span and precise preservation of all vibrant colors.

It is important to select appropriate films for your shooting, since it provides an excellent influence over the color. Velvia 50 and Velvia 100 are very popular of all films that provide an easy entrée to brightly saturated colors. Velvia 100F is not a closer approximation to saturated colors. Kodak E100VS is almost as similar as Velvia, however, the shades of black are not consistent all the time. E100G and Provia are designed to offer more life in the slide photography.
