How Google Makes Money with AdWords
The way that Google makes money with its AdWords system is by you making money with its AdWords system! So, what does Google focus on that enabled the company to come up with AdWords in the first place? The philosophy behind AdWords reflects the profitable Google philosophy and you can know what makes up this philosophy to apply it to your use of AdWords whether you are an advertiser or an affiliate marketer.
The first part of the Google philosophy is to focus on the end user. If you build it (correctly), they will come, and everything else shall fall into place for your business. Websites need to have interfaces and interactive parts that are clear, simple, and dynamic. When advertisements on a webpage come up, they need to be unobtrusive, blend in both stylistically and in use of color schemes, and offer relevant-to-the-content products and services that never scream or distract. Are your websites well designed in this way? If you are using Google AdWords to make money as an affiliate marketer, at least you can know that the advertising part looks right.
The second part of the philosophy is that it’s best to do just one thing but do it extremely well. This principle can be applied not only to your business but also to your AdWords campaigns that you put together. Don’t make one campaign try to account for everything that you have to offer—you’ll just have marketing that seems like too little butter spread over too much bread. Make each marketing campaign a highly specialized, focused, and extremely well-thought-out effort and the money will come in.
The third principle in the philosophy is that you can make money without resorting to evil. It’s sad but true, but to many people, including many business owners, the idea that you can be a nice guy and still be wealthy is laughable. But not at Google, and not with their AdWords program. The advertising is subtle and fits right in with the context of the webpage where it crops up. And it never has control—only the reader at the webpage has the control.
Just as it should be.
