License plate covers
Every time that the government or law enforcement comes up with some other way to help prevent crime and cut down on all sorts of antics, someone creates a way to get around it. It is almost impossible to figure out who is actually ahead when it comes to those sort of games. Years ago, law enforcement agencies got the brilliant idea of catching speeders and traffic violators with cameras. Suddenly, you could run through a light just as it changed to red and not see a cop in sight. Days later, you get a ticket in the mail. Much to your surprise, there had been a camera present that recorded your violation. While it doesn't exactly seem fair, I can completely understand the need for it. Some toll booths installed cameras as well in order to catch the cars that neglect to stop and pay, or are guilty of some other offense. I don't have any sympathy for those people who get caught. If you're dumb enough to drive through a toll booth, then you're just not very intelligent. So, after this new concept of cameras was invented, someone brilliant invented something that we now know as license plate covers. To the naked eye, your license plate looks absolutely fine. You can read the numbers, see that it is perfectly normal from all angles, but yet, something is different. Should a camera try to capture an image of your license plate, the photo will not turn out. The license plate covers that are invisible, will reflect the flash from the camera back to the camera. The reflection that the license plate covers send back will result in damaged or overexposed images. The results - no ticket. While this all sounds wonderful, there seems like there should be some catch to it. At the time, there doesn't seem to be a catch. What really is amazing, is that it is legal. Some states have begun the process of trying to ban the license plate covers from being used. I've heard that some major cities are as well. Sure, perhaps the cities are losing money because people are no longer having to pay
the fines anymore. I can understand that. However, if having license plate covers on my family vehicles can save me from paying some fines that I don't desire to pay, then that is my choice. For the moment, license plate covers are becoming increasingly popular, still legal for the most part, and making people happy every single day. Well, the license plate covers are making civilians happy, the cops just aren't having as much fun writing tickets as they used to...
