The history of ideas and inventions is a fascinating and mixed bag. Sometimes, an inventor is in just the right place at the right time and gets recognized for his patented invention. Anyone in this position can make a whole lot of money, and achieve great fame. As often as not, however, their inventions and ideas fail to get the proper recognition. Sometimes the inventors are not very practical and fail to find investors, to get a patent, or to protect their inventions. Often this results in someone else getting all the money and credit for what the inventor worked so hard on.
Anyone whose is passionate about ideas and inventions needs to think practically about their work. It is good to use ideas and inventions to benefit all of humanity, but it is also good to get some personal gain from your work. If you do not take the necessary steps to protect and market the work that you do, then it can end up stolen by an unscrupulous competitor. You would not believe how often this has happened in history! It is strange to think about, but often the very minds that are the brilliant enough to come up with the ideas and inventions that can change the world, are not very savvy at finding ways to make money off of their own work. Many of the world's most famous scientists and inventors lived lives of poverty in spite of the fact that the work that they did changed the world forever. It makes sense when you think about it. The most brilliant people tend to be the ones who have their heads stuck in the clouds. They are thinking about science experiment ideas while the less intelligent but more practical are thinking about how to make a quick buck. Although visionaries do make money off of their ideas and inventions from time to time, it is a very rare thing. If you are a man or woman of ideas and inventions, it is crucial that you find someone to work with. Having the right business partner can mean the difference between success and failure. If you can find someone with the business skills and economic know how to sell your invention, together you can both get rich. But if you work on your own, you are likely to never get anywhere with your new idea. It would be a shame to squander your talents!
