Tent Campgrounds - article about Tent Campgrounds

Although I have lived in Nova Scotia all my life, finding good tent campgrounds around is more difficult than most people would think. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of opportunity for tent camping if you have a week or two and some deep woods experience. You can go take your camping tent into the middle of nowhere and not see another soul for as long as you wish. There are also tent campground sites for people who do not mind being completely crowded by other vacationers. These tent campgrounds give everyone a small little spot of land where they can pitch their tents, some basic amenities such as hot and cold water nearby, and convenient access to a major road or highway. Unfortunately, these so-called tent camping grounds lose everything good about the outdoors. You have no solitude, no privacy, and very little nature around you. Most of the campsites, after all, tend to be almost totally paved.

There are some good tent campgrounds on the Bay of Fundy, however, but these are only a good place to camp during a small part of the year. Fundy Bay is notoriously cold, rainy, and windy. Even for the most experienced camper, it is no picnic. The fishermen who fish on Fundy Bay are some of the most rugged and tough individuals in the world. The people who camp in its tent campgrounds are absolutely insane.

The strange thing is that, when I went into the United States, I found tent campgrounds everywhere. You would expect the United States to be bad about that sort of thing. After all, they are horrible about conservation. Nevertheless, they do have plenty of tent campgrounds. Apparently, camping is somewhat of a national passion.
