Don’t forget to include an ice pack to keep the food chilled until it’s time to eat.

When you order a picnic hamper you can choose whatever sandwiches your family prefers. If someone likes roast turkey on rye, and another wants salami on wheat, this can easily be accommodated. Don’t forget beverages. When anyone sits in the sun for too long they are going to become dehydrated. At home, before you leave, it’s a great idea to pack a small cooler with water bottles. This makes them easy to get at.

When you order the food for the picnic ask about lemonade or fruit juices. Many restaurants and delis make their own fresh juices which is a real treat for anyone on a hot summer day. When you go to pick up the picnic hamper you can just slide these into the basket right next to the food.

After that it’s just a matter of driving to your destination, having lunch and enjoying the fun of being with your family. Everyone, including the cook, will have a great time.
