You can always use another good flashlight. This is something my father used to tell me. So far I'd have to say he's right. This is why I keep a quality, compact flashlight on me at all times. I can easily yank it from my pocket and FLASH. Let there be light! But, today's high-tech flashlights aren't just about illuminating a dark area or dim room. There is more than meets the eye going on. Take Surefire lights for instance. These are some of the most outstanding tactical flashlights on the market today. However, you don't have to take my word for it. Just ask the oodles of law enforcement and emergency officers who carry them daily.

I used to own a Maglite. Surely you've heard of or seen these heavy-duty flashlights at some point or another. They were all the rage back in the 1980s. Law enforcement officers were toting the large ones around everywhere. Now, just like everything else, the flashlight world changed. Suddenly we had Surefire lights in the mix. This was a whole new ballgame. I purchased my very first Surefire tactical flashlight around five years ago. It was one of the least expensive ones on the market, but I was amazed at what my 30 bucks bought. This was the brightest flashlight I had ever used, and it fit in the palm of my hand. In no time at all, I wanted more. Within the next year, I had bought the Surefire E2D Defender. It is even a bit smaller at 5 inches long and less than an inch wide. I loved its T6 aircraft grade aluminum body and stainless pocket clip for convenient carry. Each end has blunt prongs for impact self-defense applications. The lens is also shatter proof. This is my favorite of the Surefire lights offered today. I know carry the older model in my vehicle and the Defender in my pocket. You simply never know when you might need a light.

When it comes to Surefire lights, self-defense is a major focus. These flashlights are built to withstand an awful beating. I encourage folks to carry compact Surefire lights like the Defender. Not only can it be used as a weapon, but the light beam is so powerful, it will temporarily blind an aggressor in the dark. Take it from me; everyone should have a Surefire flashlight handy.
