Beach Hunting With A Metal Detector is A Treasure Hunt

Many people do not realize that beach combing is another way of saying beach hunting. For many years people have combed or hunted on the beach for lost valuables whether it is coins, jewelry, metals or any other treasure they may find on their hunt. Beach hunting with a metal detector has become a national past time hobby.

Retirees especially like to beach hunt with a metal detector, but many younger individuals find that it is a relaxing and inexpensive way to spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When the family wants a day at the beach, dad can steal away for a few hours and beach hunt with a metal detector to find lost treasure. With so many beaches around the world, beach hunting with a metal detector is becoming a worldwide hobby.

The Beach Metal Detector

The majority of the metal detecting enthusiasts that enjoy beach hunting with a metal detector will look for coins on the beach. Most of the metal detectors can detect metal only within a foot or so below the ground. The depth depends on the type of metal detector, type of metal in the buried treasure and the size of the buried treasure. One beach hunting with a metal detector term is coin shooting.

Coin shooting is looking for coins on the beach after an event involving a group of people. For instance, a beach party, a volleyball game or simply after a busy weekend at the beach will always ensure a treasure of some sort for the beach hunter. Serious coin shooters will spend hours combing wide areas of a beach. They will then spend days researching the history of the treasure and in some cases look up any historical facts about the particular location in which it was found.

Beach hunting with a metal detector is an event for the avid beach hunter. Beach hunting enthusiasts can be divided up into different hunt categories. There are the coin shooters, prospectors, relic hunters and treasure hunters. The beach hunt with a metal detector can be quite ambitious when prospecting for gold or silver. There is a lot of gold and silver jewelry lying beneath the sandy beaches on the coast lines of the United States, not to mention the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

The relic hunters are interested in preserving the historical artifacts that they find underneath the sand. They look not only for coins, but mini balls, buttons, axe heads and buckles. The treasure hunter searches for the rumored buried treasure that is beneath the beach. Beach hunting with a metal detector can be as simple as a hunter wants or as complex. and is by far the easiest of all of the metal detector hunting.
