As children we're often bought up with certain creeds and practices. This is and has been common for centuries now, all over the globe. Humans tend to look to something greater or more powerful as an answer to many of their unanswered questions. However, this can be more of a burden than it is a benefit. While you have countless religions practiced world-wide, you also naturally have tons of feuds and religion discrimination. Everyone wants you to come to their side; to finally see the light and start believing in something that makes sense. Hmm, does that notion ring any bells? For many adamant religious followers it does.
I worked with a fellow in a bar back in North Carolina. He was very open about his religion. He was a Muslim. Now, as you know, this is not exactly the religion to have in the United States. As a matter of fact, ever since 911, this particular creed has received endless scrutiny and religion discrimination. This is to be expected I suppose. America is still quite hostel regarding this tragic event. I know I am. Furthermore, I'm not sure that the resentment will ever go away. Anyway, this guy I worked with was certainly not well liked. Other employees could not get past the fact that he was Muslim. Obviously this is religion discrimination, but no one was going to do anything about it. Eventually he just quit. This example just goes to show how powerful our beliefs are and how we can't accept the creeds of others half the time. And it's not even that we can't, we just choose not to. Religion has done so much damage throughout history, it's a wonder that anyone clings to any creed. Just look at the past Christians. They are the epitome of religion discrimination. In no way could they accept other groups of people harboring and practicing different religions. Then came the religious wars. Countless people were slaughter in the name of a creed. If you can't conform, then you must die. Now I do realize this was in the past, but religion discrimination is by no means finished. There will always be people who have trouble dealing with the creeds of others. Fortunately for us all it's illegal to discriminate against religion in the workplace. This at least gives us some freedom to believe what we please.
