Cyberspace is the marketplace of today's entrepreneur. Millions upon millions of people cruise the net every day. Loaded with advertising opportunities, millions of hot links, and rheems of social networking communities, the net can provide you with more customers than you ever thought possible. So you want to make a web page and get your share of the market? It's easy enough to do if you define your goals and target your market.
You need not have a big operation or sales pitch. A personal website, like a blog, a family photo exchange or just a nice little space to display your art or poetry can be turned into a business income source with little effort on your part. If you want to make a web page, chances are good that you've already got some ideas for your theme. Backgrounds, images and a navigation menu are a good place to start your plan.
The corporate image requires traditional color combinations like blue, red, silver, white and black. These color schemes convey an impression of solid business and are pleasing to a majority of visitors. If you want to appeal to a mass market, go in this direction.
If you own a business, go with some traditional color themes. To generate business traffic, choose a theme that will be agreeable to most visitors. For example, you wouldn't want a background pattern that are only appealing to old ladies.
On the other hand, if you want to appeal to a niche market, you may want to make a web page that's a little different. If you want to make a web page extolling the virtues of coffee in a blog format, you can take some license with colors and layout to distinguish your web page in a unique and memorable layout. If you want to make a web page for personal use, your options are much broader. You can make a web page just as you like it.
Now it's time to consider what background you want. A solid color will load up quickly but is beyond boring. If you want a background image for your website, it should be extremely small. The background will repeat, so that an image of one star will cover your page with tiled images of stars.
Now, what are you going to put on this canvas? Images! Whatever they are, the golden rule is small size. Massive images will load up so slowly that your visitor will lose patience and surf away, to browse elsewhere. Convert all images to .gif format. If you can't do this without losing picture quality, reduce the color depth as much as you can before saving in a .jpg format.
When choosing a text font, always choose a basic one from the Arial, Helvetica, Roman or Courier groups. You want to do this because when the browser tries to download a font, and the fancy one that you've chosen isn't found, gobbledygook will be in place of it.
