100 Years of Calvert Home Schools

Not only does Calvert address the students who are being home schooled, but also the person who is doing the teaching. Most home school teachers are not trained educators, but concerned parents; Calvert makes concerned adults into trained educators with the guidance their program provides.

Accreditation

Most people who do home schooling are very concerned that the program they use be accredited. Only by putting one’s children through an accredited home school program, like Calvert, can the children go on to accredited colleges and universities after finishing their home school program. Calvert is not only fully accredited, but also works with parents across the nation who give regularly give feedback so that they can constantly upgrade their curriculum based on what parents experience as the Calvert experience as their children work through the curriculum.

How it Works

The Calvert home school curriculum comes from the Calvert Academy, based in Baltimore, Maryland. The home school lessons and lesson plans are adaptations on the real lessons that are used in the actual school in Baltimore. This means that the lessons never get old; a lot of home schooling lesson plan services sell you the same thing over and over again, but the Calvert home school is designed to never let things get stale. Calvert Academy is a top-notch private school, so you can expect the home schooling lesson plans to be of the same high caliber.

Why Home School?

More and more concerned parents are home schooling their children as the world seems to become a scarier and scarier place for children. Many parents are dead-set against sending their children to public schools in metropolitan regions, and with private school tuitions going through the roof, home schooling is becoming a more and more attractive option. Many parents are looking into home schooling, and though college is a long way off for your 5-year-old child, an accredited home school program like Calvert’s is a better option for home schooling than an unaccredited program, especially when it comes to your child’s future.

Hi, I am looking for a high school curriculum for my 14 yr old. She has been homescholed for 5 yrs. Last year we were residents of WI and she used Connections Academy from Appleton which uses alot of Calvert books. She liked that and did very well. We have since sold our house and travel the country so we can not use virtual school in WI. I know we can not afford Calvert curriculum but are interested in something similar. Can you advice me? I am interested in your home scholl program for my 15 year old, who will be in Gr. 11 in September. Do you offer AP courses? What courses do you offer. We are currently living in Quito, Ecuador and he really dislikes the school here, Academia Cotopaxi. However, we will be moving to mexico City in the summer, and I would prefer he was homeschooled.How do I go about enrolling, etc? I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Carmella Peters Romero

My daughter was struggling in 7th grade private school. I am glad I made the choice to home school. I have made sure to use a fully accredited program. I took my 5th grader out of the private school, too. She is a different person now (less stressed).
