Back Splash
When you are remodeling or building a home, make sure you don’t skip on the back splash in both your bathroom and your kitchen. I have seen many homes that have not bothered with this detail, and you can see a lot of damage as a result. You may think that you are saving money by not worrying about this detail, but you should know that you might end up costing yourself a heck of a lot more in the future. The back splash in the bathroom may be something that comes with the tub or the shower by default, but many forget to include it when they are installing their bathroom sink. You may think you don’t need one if you don’t have children, but that is not true. You splash about more than you could ever imagine when you use the sink, and things like shaving make even more of a mess. You should have a good back splash there to stop water from hitting your walls. If you have tile covering your walls, these tiles will double as a back splash in most cases so you won’t have to worry about it.
Many don’t think about a back splash in a kitchen because they don’t realize where they need one. They may have one around the sink, but they forget about the cooking area. You should have something that can handle the grease and other stuff that comes around when you are cooking. If you don’t think that grease flies very far, you should come feel my ceiling. I have to wash it on occasion because of the grease. A good back splash, or tile, should be around your counter tops and your stove area to stop the grease from running your wallpaper and dry wall.
If you don’t know what to do for a back splash, you can visit your local home improvement store and see what they suggest to you. If you really want to protect your walls you should consider tile for your kitchen and bath. You can have tile for part of your wall and paint and/or wallpaper for the rest as long as you protect the areas you need to have covered. A good back splash does not have to be some ugly hunk of plastic. There are many great and good looking ideas out there if you just look around for what you think will go well in your home.
