Some individuals are born with a green thumb. These individuals can be found surrounded by lovely plants and flowers all year long. Some individuals like myself, do not have this inborn quality and the very idea of rearing plants and flowers is overwhelming. For individuals like me artificial outdoor plants seem to be the only solution.

I have a long history of managing to kill even the toughest plant. My face appears in every plant Post Office as the most wanted villain. My yard used to have the most pathetic landscape on the block. There was a real lack of color and interest. Brown was the predominant hue in my garden.

I never would entertain outside or even sit on the back porch on warm days. I decided to do something about it. I began to look into artificial outdoor plants to help my yard get some character and color. My search began on the Internet. There are several websites and stores that sell artificial outdoor plants. They range in price from a few dollars to over seven hundred.

The first and most important step was to determine my budget. I then focused on the fun task of designing how I wanted the front and back yard to look using the artificial outdoor plants. I decided on two separate themes, one for the front and one for the back yard. After I browsed through the websites and completed some research I stared selecting my artificial outdoor plants.

I discovered that vinyl is the best material for this particular product. Since the artificial outdoor plants spend a lot of time in the sun you really want to choose a material that would not fade. Vinyl is also a very sturdy material that can take quite a bit of punishment. With my luck with foliage, I was afraid that I would kill artificial outdoor plants as well. Making sure that the material is durable was important to me.

I decided to decorate my front yard to resemble an English garden. I started off with a lot of English ivy. They are a poly-blend and less likely to break down in the weather. I also went with two Laurel Cone Topiary artificial outdoor plants. I used these to balance my front entryway. They came in their own two foot tall containers.

I chose Japanese maple artificial outdoor plants that provide texture and contrast in the scene. English Ivy is placed along the sidewalk and several Bougainvillea plants around the front porch to give it cottage look. The Japanese maples surrounded by the traditional English garden elements are truly outstanding.

The back yard landscaping project is whimsical in nature. The theme for this area is a tropical paradise. I arranged four Phoenix palm artificial outdoor plants around the sitting area. In addition six Cycas Palms are peppered throughout the yard. My daughter chose the tropical theme and it makes for a really adorable play area for her.

Adding artificial outdoor plants can really help someone who lacks the skill and time to invest in gardening. With just a few interesting items you can create a number of different styles. The great thing is you can rotate your selection and make an entirely new scene in no time at all.
