Lottery Programs
You may be getting emails saying that you have won some lottery programs that you have never heard of. The terms of your prize have a catch though, and that is where things get very tricky. You should know that there is no national lottery coming out of a foreign country that is going to pay you millions. Stop and think. Have you even entered any lottery programs? How can you win if you didn’t enter? If you really won, would they tell you via email? Though these seem like common sense questions, many people for get to think it through when they are notified via email that they have won through lottery programs. They didn’t enter, but perhaps someone else entered them. The only thing they see is that this lottery program is telling them that they have won millions and millions of dollars, and all they have to do is contact the address, email address, or phone number listed at the end of the email.
I get these all the time, and I mark them as spam and delete. You may think making the phone call ‘just incase’ is a good idea, but it is not. You are setting yourself up as a mark, and your information may be sold to someone else with another scheme to get your money. Once they start talking to you about these so called lottery programs, they will do everything and every resource they have to make you believe that you have really won all this money. Don’t think you can get away from them easily. These people know what they are doing, and they know how to wear you down until you give in and believe what they say, and do what they want.
What happens after that is where things go bad. They tell you that the money you won via the lottery programs must be sent by way of wire transfer into your account, or that you have to pay some fees or even taxes up front before you can get your money from the lottery. They take your financial information from you and they clean you out, and then move on to the next person who thinks they won from a similar email. If you really won millions in a lottery, you should remember that you entered in the first place, and you won’t be notified by email. If you see such an email in your inbox, delete with out opening.
