The Wedding Toasts of Friends and Family

As your wedding date quickly approaches, it becomes time to choose individuals that will make the wedding toasts at your reception. These individuals must be chosen with great care. You should make sure that the individuals that you choose will be able to treat you with respect when speaking about you and your groom. Wedding toasts are a time that is remembered by everyone for the wonderful thoughts, stories and anecdotes about the bride and groom, this is also a time when every guest is watching and listening. When you ask someone to say a toast at the wedding, it is very important that you ask an individual with whom you can trust.

When you approach an individual to request that they give a toast at your wedding, it is important that you provide a few guidelines for your friend or family member. Explain that the wedding toast need not be any longer than three to four minutes as the other guests will become bored and begin to tune out. Explain that you would prefer no inside jokes, off color jokes or inappropriate comments about the bride or the groom.

The Proper Behavior for the Bridal Pair during a Wedding Toast

Etiquette is a very strict guideline by which many different people model their behavior. If you are unfamiliar with the proper behavior that should take place when receiving a wedding toast, it is important that you understand what is expected of you before your wedding arrives.

When you are the recipient of a wedding toast at a formal gathering, everyone except the recipients of the toast, should stand Once the toast is done, the speaker should bring the toast to a close by saying something like, “won’t you please join me in a toast for Mr. and Mrs.” As you hear something like the closing phrase, you may raise your glass in a toast, clanking glasses if you choose, sipping from your beverage and then being seated.

The Value of Writing A Personalize Wedding Toast

If you are asked to provide a wedding toast for a dear friend’s wedding, it is important that you begin working on the toast as soon as the request is made. Wedding toasts are very important to the bride and groom and are often based upon childhood memories, growing friendships and stories reflecting times of great joy. Since the wedding toast is such a sentimental gift to the bride and groom, it is always best to write your own toast up in the months before the wedding rather than rush through it the morning of the wedding. While the internet has a number of different retailers that are more than willing to sell you a generalized wedding toast, keep in mind that the individual you are toasting is your good friend who has asked you to share in his or her wedding. Remember to give their request as much respect as you would give them in person.
