A Toast to the Bride and Groom, Writing the Perfect Wedding Speech

The wedding reception is not complete without the ceremonial wedding speeches that are delivered by the bride’s father, the best man, the maid/matron of honor and anyone else that feels compelled to toast the bride and groom with a wedding speech of good wishes and blessings for a wonderful future together.

A toast is a verbal salute from one person to another, honoring the recipient for something special. The toast is always done with a beverage raised and followed by a sip of the beverage at the end of the toast. The wedding speeches have become charming traditions that allow friends and family to honor the bride and groom during the course of the dinner or banquet.

It is only proper to suggest a toast if your glass and the glasses of others are filled. It is best to stand and announce that you would like to propose a toast to the bride and groom and slightly motion for the waiters to fill the glasses that are empty. Allow enough time for everyone to have a beverage to rise in the toast.

Always Arrived Prepared When Asked To Give a Wedding Speech

If you are one of the key wedding speakers, giving a wedding speech during the reception, it is very important that you write down the different thoughts that you would like to share with the other guests and family at the reception. Try to use positive and sentimental stories that highlight the affection that the bride and groom share. Do not use inside jokes that will exclude large portions of the guests or to discuss the large number of admirerers for either the bride or the groom. Whatever you do, do not make cruel or offensive jokes or discuss anything negatively while standing in front of the wedding guests and family.

Try to keep your speech to reasonable length, generally no longer than five minutes. Any longer and you will begin to lose the focus of your speech and the attention of your audience. As you bring your wedding speech to a close, end it with a lifting of your glass and requesting that the audience join you in your toast to the bride and groom. After you have raised your glass and taken the toast, open the floor to anyone else that may want to toast the bride and groom and take your seat.

The wedding toast is a very important moment for the bride and groom. This is the time when friends and family offer their support, love and fond memories. When sharing your memories, make sure that the memories you share will only enhance the memories you make on this wedding day.
