With the coming of the New Year, many of us are organizing and sorting through our calendars getting ready for 2006. Many of us neglect to do this, but right now is an ideal time to update your address book as well. This task may seem daunting, but following a few simple steps can help you start a fresh list of addresses and phone numbers that are easily accessed. There are a few options to consider when organizing your address book for the New Year.
Your computer probably has a great address book feature that you can use to organize and update your friends’ and family’s information. You may also want to add important information like birthdays and anniversaries into a calendar. This is a great way to keep track of important dates. You can also opt to have messages sent to remind you of the special occasions. This comes in very handy for busy people. It may be a little time consuming to enter all of the information from your address books into the computer, but once you have initially entered the information, the address book is a snap to update. What’s nice about entering the addresses and telephone numbers into the computer’s address book is that you can keep a clean, updated version that is always in alphabetical order. You can also make quick changes at the touch of a button without making a mess.
Some of us really prefer having a hard copy of our address books. I prefer to use a traditional address book when making invitations and sending Christmas cards. I chose to keep a record of my friends’ and family’s addresses and phone numbers in a hard copy as well. I simply took the list from the address book and transferred it onto address labels. Then I stuck the address labels into my traditional address book. Any changes I make can be reprinted and the new label can be placed right on top of the old one.
It is a good idea to include additional information in the address book like email addresses. You may be surprised by how many times a person changes his email address. Keeping this information current is helpful and it can save you a lot of time in the long run. When you are entering information into your address book, remember to double-check the person’s email address as well.
