Cleaning Dentures: Keep Those Pearly Whites Pearly!
Cleaning dentures doesn’t have to be a big deal. It’s only after you’ve gone a long time without keeping your dentures clean that cleaning dentures will become an issue. Buildup of food and other particles, staining, and general lack of upkeep can make even the best dentures look old and shabby. Just like natural teeth, dentures need cleaning. For this reason, it’s so important, if you wear dentures, that you employ some denture cleaning techniques into your normal, everyday routine. Clean Your Dentures And Clean Them Often
Cleaning dentures starts when you first wake up in the morning. If you still had all your real teeth, you’d brush them. It’s no difference with false teeth. Cleaning dentures by brushing is even easier when your teeth are false. Think of all the hard to reach places you can now get to because you can actually take your teeth out of your mouth. There’s no place you can’t brush with false teeth and brushing is really the only way to keep food and other particles out of your dentures.
Cleaning dentures doesn’t stop there. If you want a clean mouth, you’re going to have to do a little more. Right before you go to bed at night, make sure you brush your dentures again. When we were growing up, we were told over and over that we need to brush our teeth twice per day. It’s no different with false teeth. Cleaning dentures needs to be done twice per day, also. Brush your dentures before you go to bed and also get yourself some denture solution to soak your dentures in while you sleep. You can buy dentures solution at your local drug store. All you do is fill a glass with water, pop the solution in, usually in the form of a tablet, and you have a nice solution with which to soak your dentures all night long.
Cleaning dentures is not only important for the look of your dentures but also for the health of your gums and it can affect your breath, too. Make sure you keep a clean mouth and, if you wear dentures, that you care for them as though you would your own teeth. Just because you don’t have your own teeth anymore, that doesn’t mean that you can stop caring for your false ones. If you want a nice smile, then it’s so important that you keep your dentures clean.
