Crime Scene Investigator

With the popularity of the TV show CSI, there have been a lot more people going to college to become a crime scene investigator. This show has gotten great ratings because when it came out it was different a lot of the shows that were currently on the air. It became something of a cult hit, and you may find a hard to find someone who doesn’t know or watch the show. The show often shows how a crime is solved, and the different procedures a CSI must go through in order to gather evidence.

Since CSI has become so popular I have noticed there are many colleges that are advertising courses to learn to be a crime scene investigator. Though I cannot say a career in crime scene investigation is as exciting as it seems to be on the television show, I can see where would be a very interesting career choice for someone who has a natural talent in science. A good crime scene investigator must also have good attention to detail and be able to use logic to figure out complex puzzles.

That being said, you should do a little investigation of your own before you sign up for courses to be a crime scene investigator. You may want to call the school offering the courses to see what the requirements are. There may be certain classes you must take in high school, like math or sciences, in order to qualify for the courses you need to become a crime scene investigator. If you seem to have a problem with math or science you may want to rethink your career choice, however, the final choice will be up to you. If this is something you really want to do, there should be no reason why you don’t go for it.

You should remember that being a crime scene investigator is often hard work, and you often have to work long hours in order to get the job done. There will be police and family relying on your findings in order to identify missing persons, or to help capture those who may have committed the crime. Many times crimes can go unpunished. A good crime scene investigator will work whatever hours they need to do whatever they can to help bring a criminal to justice, and to bring a family much-needed peace. You should also be prepared to see things that most people will never see, and many of these things are things you may never forget.
