Talent show

I was incredibly excited that my parenting years had brought me to going to a talent show. These were the events that I'd been looking forward to since the moment I learned I was pregnant. As soon as my husband came home, I told him about the talent show and he got a big smile on his face. He was rather happy about it as well.

Over dinner that evening, we all talked about the upcoming talent show. My daughter still had no idea what she was going to do or if she even wanted to participate. Apparently, participation was not necessary but she liked to be involved in activities. My husband and I came up with all kinds of ideas for her to do for the talent show, but she rejected all of them. By the time she went to bed, she seemed very discouraged and was convinced that she didn't want to be in the talent show at all. She left for school the next morning in the same mood. My hopes had dropped. But, when she came home that afternoon, she was full of smiles. She told us that she and her best friend had decided to perform a dance routine for the talent show. They had already picked a song and outfit for it. Now, my daughter is very graceful in the water but I had never once seen her dance or known that she was even interested in dancing. I had a feeling that this was her friend's idea for the talent show and she'd simply jumped on board.
But, I kept my mouth closed. They got together in my basement that night to practice their talent show dance routine and from what I heard, it did not go very smoothly.

The two girls came up the steps and declared that they were not going to participate in the talent show afterall. I refrained from smiling. A week before the talent show, my daughter decided that she had an idea, but it was top secret. I was incredibly curious. On the day of the talent show, my husband and I entered the auditorium with curiosity. My daughter was the first to perform. The curtains went up, and there was my daughter. She was wearing her swimming suit and had an inflatable pool sitting near her. There were waves painted and standing up behind her. She proceeded to do a dance that used swimming moves. My jaw dropped. Her creativity was amazing. And she was wonderful. The audience stood up for her when she was done. It was the best talent show I ever attended.
