As the parent of a now 5 year old adopted child with FAS, I am stunned that research money is being spent on finding ways to allow the mother to continue drinking - even if it saves the child from FAS complication. There are so many other elements of abuse involved that it is inconceivable to me that this would be viewed as a hopeful step in the treatment or prevention of FAS.
