Preparing For Amateur Bodybuilding Shows


If you'd like to start competing as a bodybuilder but you haven't reached the physical goals you've set for yourself, there's nothing more motivating than signing up for an amateur bodybuilding show. Knowing that there's a bodybuilding show right around the corner should give you plenty of motivation to watch what you eat and to exercise hard. You should start training for a bodybuilding show about twelve weeks out. Even if you're not big or cut, you can still perform a complete body transformation in this time. First, you'll need to do the weight workouts, then you'll need to do the cardio and finally, you're going to have to learn to eat correctly. In twelve weeks, you'll get on stage and hopefully you'll place. If you don't, at least you gave it a good try and you should be ready to go for the next bodybuilding show.

The Weight Workouts

If you've never worked out before, your body should respond fairly quickly to any weight workout. If you've been working out for a while, simply changing up your workout should give you results. See, your body gets used to workouts very quickly, so you should change them up every six to eight weeks. Work out hard and push your muscles to failure if you want them to grow big enough to compete in an amateur bodybuilding show. Just remember, correct form is important so never sacrifice weight for form. If you can't lift a heavier weight correctly, drop it down a little and work that muscle properly.

Cardio

Cardio is what is going to give you that ripped, striated look which is essential for placing at an amateur bodybuilding show. You should strive for thirty to forty five minutes or even an hour a day. It all depends on how much fat you have to lose. If you seem to be losing strength or muscle, that means you're doing too much cardio. Tailor your cardio workouts until you begin to see results and then stick with it until the bodybuilding show.

Diet

Diet is extremely important. You should eat well balanced, clean meals and you should eat small meals every few hours so that you really give your metabolism a boost. Study up on nutrition and how other bodybuilders have prepared for bodybuilding shows. If you eat correctly, you'll see the results you want and you'll hopefully push yourself above the competition once on stage.

Finally, before the bodybuilding show, get a tan. A tan really makes your muscles stand out and it makes you look thinner. If you're worried about skin cancer, get a good bronzer you simply put on like a lotion. Also, practice your posing. Posing isn't as easy as it looks so it's going to take lots of practice. Once you're ready, though, you'll know it and you'll do great in your very first amateur bodybuilding show.
