When you book your airline tickets, you will be given a few different options. Today, the most common option you have is to use e-tickets, and to have a flight itinerary sent to you by e-mail. The days of paper tickets are numbered as more and more airlines prefer to use the e-tickets. These not only save paper they save time. This is why it is very important that you know your flight information before you leave the house and had to the airport.

If for any reason you are unsure of your flight information, you can call your airline to get this information from almost any representative who answers the phone. Though you do not have to verify your reservation any longer, it is recommended that you do so at least 24 hours in advance. In most cases, the flight information is correct and your see is reserved, however, problems can occur. So even though you are not required to confirm your reservation any longer, it is a good idea for you to do so.

When you order your ticket, you should immediately print your flight information and put it in a safe place. Before you put it away however, you should look over everything carefully to make sure your flight information is correct. On occasion, there can be problems. For example, there are some cities that sound similar and you may have been booked into the wrong airport. You may have wanted to go to Austin, Texas, but the person making your reservation may have thought you said Boston instead. If there has been a mistake, you’ll want to get it cleared up as soon as possible. Though most reservations made with the airport abbreviation, this type of city confusion can still happen. You are better off being completely sure by checking your information the moment it is in your hands.

After you have confirmed that your flight information is correct, make sure it is one of the first things you pack when you get ready to leave for your trip. If you have a copy of your flight itinerary with you when you reach the airport, you will have proof of your flight numbers and other pertinent information. If there is a problem or if the flight is overbooked, having your flight information with you will help guarantee you retain your seat. Though problems are rare, they do happen. It is in your best interest to be prepared.
