Radio advertising
I've owned my own business for almost four years now. I've had salesman after salesman visiting me and encouraging me to advertise in their magazine or newspaper. I've had people telling me to pass out flyers and mail out letters to people in order to round up more business. A friend of mine works at a popular local radio station and started telling me about how productive radio advertising really can be. I know that I personally am more likely to remember an ad that I heard on the radio over one that I saw in a publication. Though radio advertising isn't the cheapest, I decided to spend a month and try it. Within my first day of having ads on the radio, I'd had a few people walk in the front doors and say that they'd heard my ad. I was absolutely thrilled. By the end of the first week, I'd had only five days of radio advertising and already seen my business profit greatly. In considering radio advertising for your business, there are many different things to think about. Is your product or service one that could be advertised on the air and attract attention? And, what radio advertising would be the best for you. If you're hoping to attract a younger crowd, you obviously shouldn't be advertising on an oldies radio station. The oldies station might be less expensive, but definitely not profitable for you. At what time of the day do you want your ads to be heard? I've learned that different time slots of the day have different costs. Radio advertising in the middle of the night is much less expensive than early in the morning when people are most likely to be listening while driving to work or getting ready at home. You also have to think about what day of the week do you want to have your ads aired on the radio.
One of the best decisions that I made in choosing to go with radio advertising, is having a live remote at my store. The radio station sent two deejays to my store to broadcast live for two hours. They attracted customers by having door prizes and giveaways to anyone who stopped in. I was shocked at how many people did actually take a few moments to drive to my store just to see what was going on. Of course, most of the people were only there for the radio giveways, but I was fine with that. Every person that stopped by was one more potential customer and one more person who knew where my store was located.
Since having radio advertising, my store has become much more popular. My profits have increased and I've had more people paying attention to my ads. I no longer even bother to run an ad in any newspapers. I don't even have to.
