Antique Estate Jewelry

I wasn't much of a history buff in my school years. In fact, I found it to be rather boring. It was not until my 21st birthday when someone took me to an auction that had a large amount of antique estate jewelry that I started to find history to be more interesting. Before the auction began, we got to preview all of the items that would be offered for sale. I walked through the aisles looking at the gorgeous antique estate jewelry and was simply fascinated. Every single item was no less than fifty years old and had been worn and admired by many throughout time. I found that incredibly interesting.

In looking through all of the antique estate jewelry that was going to be sold, I fell in love with many pieces. Some of the rings were more beautiful and unique than anything modern that I'd come across in my own thirty years of life. One ring, in particular, that caught my attention was from 1895. It was in excellent condition and the details were simply exquisite. I could only imagine who had worn it and what the history of that ring really was. To me, looking at all of the antique estate jewelry was somewhat of a mystery. How the jewelry had arrived at the auction, who had given it away, who had worn it on their hand in their lifetime, and what secrets could it tell? The echoes of days gone by are forever etched in the history of antique estate jewelry. Those antique watches and rings, broaches and necklaces have seen many smiles and many tears since their original creation. I suddenly wanted to own a piece of history and learn as much as I could about it. I said as much to my friend who sort of laughed. She asked me if I had any idea of how much money these gorgeous antique estate jewelry pieces sell for. I had not a clue, but I was hoping to at least get in on some bidding.

Before I knew it, most of the antique estate jewelry was being sold for some very nice prices. I could not even imagine trying to compete with these bidders. The ring I had desperately wanted went for a little over $5,000. I had not even raised my hand. After pouting the entire ride home, I did some research and discovered that the internet has tons of stores that sell antique estate jewelry. I looked through many sites and stores and have found some jewelry that is reasonably priced. There really are some glamorous and unique pieces of jewelry in existence that put some modern jewelry to shame. I'm trying to convince my husband that I need a new wedding band for Christmas. He didn't realize how serious I was until I showed him all of the information that I'd found on antique estate jewelry. I think he got the hint.
